The Personal Protection Dog

How much does a personal protection dog cost?

Personal Protection Dogs typically start at $65,000 at the minimum price.

How long does it take to be train a personal protection dog?

Most companies will sell personal protection dogs at 4-7 years old. PK9 prides itself on selling a dog 2-3 years old so you have the maximum usage of its lifespan to serve you.

Can you buy a fully trained protection dog?

Optimal results are achieved when buying a fully trained dog. We have dogs for sale, and may also do a custom dog of your choosing. This includes scouting the perfect genetics, size, coloring, etc.

Will my personal protection dog guard my house?

Nothing in life is ever a 100% guarantee, but this comes as close to it as possible.

How much does a guard dog cost?

Guard dogs will fall under the same pricing and category as personal protection dogs at PK9. Please refer to website pricing or inquire. Personal protection dogs may be trained to guard properties in specific ways.

Can you buy a guard dog?

Yes! Personal protection dogs have been trained to defend you when threatened in real life scenarios.

Is buying a personal protection dog worth it?

A personal protection dog can be the difference between life or death in an altercation. Personal protection dogs are useful to anyone wanting an added layer of security and a first point of contact with the threat outside of themself. Personal protection dogs may be extremely useful to individuals who are often unarmed, or would not know how to react in an altercation.

Can my personal protection dog be around kids?

Yes! All PPDs trained by PK9 are trained so well a child can handle them!

Can a personal protection dog be a pet?

Yes, your fully trained personal protection dog will be with you all the time and have a completely normal life once done with training.

Will my personal protection dog destroy my house?

No, all personal protection dogs trained by Professional K9s are trained to stay laying down in one spot in the “place” command in your home. They are trained to not need a crate and are trained to not be destructive.

Will my personal protection dog be aggressive to my friends and family?

No, personal protection dogs should only react to a threat, just like how you would recognize if someone is threatening or not.

Will my personal protection dog be aggressive to my other dogs?

No personal protection dog sold by Professional K9s will be dog aggressive. However if there are aggressive dogs already in the home, PK9 will address issue upon transfer of PPD.

Can any dog be trained to do personal protection?

No. This is why Professional K9s scouts specific breeds, specific genetics, and a certain upbringing of dogs it chooses to join its program.

What breeds of dog can do personal protection?

Typically Belgian Malinois and Dutch Shepherds have the best genetics for this work.

Is it possible to bring a personal protection dog everywhere with you?

Yes, that is why Professional K9s has created the personal protection service dog. This dog will be able to accompany you as a service dog and perform service dog tasks specific to the disability.

Is it better to have a male or female dog as a protection dog?

Males tend to have the most desire, as well as large size. The protection dog will not be spayed or neutered for longevity and mental reasons. Due to that PK9 exclusively offers male dogs so clients will not have to care for a female in heat.

What is the ideal dog for a first-time dog owner wanting a PPD?

PK9 has put many Belgian malinois in the hands of first time dog owners trained as personal protection service dogs without issue. With highly specialized training and instruction you will be able to handle a dog of this caliber with ease.

Do you offer Security Dogs for sale?

Yes, that will fall under our same category as the personal protection dog.

Do you offer Guard Dogs for sale?

Yes, we have many personal protection dogs for sale which will fall under the same category as guard dog.

Do you offer Belgian Malinois Protection Dogs for sale?

Yes! We commonly use that breed as a choice for our protection dogs.

Will my Belgian Malinois protect me?

Very unlikely without training.

Do you offer Home Protection Dogs for sale?

Yes, all personal protection dogs trained by PK9 will protect you wherever you are.

What language will a personal protection dog be trained in?

Personal protection dogs trained by PK9 will be trained in many languages including English, French, Dutch, and German. If you have a specific language you would like to select, including ones not listed above, personalize a custom contract instead of buying a dog already offered.

What commands will a personal protection dog have?

Commands may vary upon the dog, but will include heel, sit, down, stand, front, place, send, recall, yes, no, speak, bite, center.

Can my dog be trained to be a personal protection dog?

Dogs raised as a pet and are pet breeds often cannot. Schedule a session with PK9 to see if your dog can!

How are payments made for a personal protection dog?

The amount is not due in full. Monthly payments may be made. The minimum monthly payment is $2,500. You may pre-pay or pay off at any time. When the dog is finished training you may receive the dog and continue to make payments if amount is not fulfilled.

What if I want a personal protection dog that is not a service dog?

Contact Professional K9s for custom pricing on custom jobs.

What equipment (collars, harness, etc) will I need to buy for my PPD?

When purchasing a fully trained dog from PK9, all gear is included- harnesses, multiple leashes, collars, electronic collars, etc.

What food/diet will my PPD eat? Will it be hard to bring when I travel?

So far, every personal protection dog sold by Professional K9s eats Victor Hero K9 Grain Free Dry Dog Food. This is subject to change in the future if a dog does not tolerate. PK9 selects only the healthiest dogs to avoid this. We are proud this diet is simple and easy to transport as there is no mixing of multiple ingredients or medications.

What if my place of living does not allow certain breeds?

Because all personal protection dogs sold by PK9 are trained with a service dog platform specific to the disability, apartments and houses may not reject you based upon breed. They may also not charge pet fees. Rental cars and hotels may not reject you or charge pet fees.

What will I need to buy for my PPD?

When purchasing a personal protection dog from Professional K9s all gear is included. This means wearable gear and training tools such as leashes, collars, harnesses. The gear can easily add up to over $3,000. You will need to buy inexpensive grooming tools as instructed by PK9 to keep canine in top health condition, as well as food and future preventative veterinary care (this is not enforced, but recommended).

Will my personal protection dog have silver caps (silver canine teeth)?

No. There is a misconception about silver caps for canines. Silver caps, silver crowns, or crowns are a device used to salvage and prevent breakage of a damaged tooth. Teeth that have been crowned as treatment to prior damage are more likely to break off from the root. If you purchase a personal protection dog, you will want all of their teeth normal and in good condition.

What guarantee do you provide?

In written contract upon sale Professional K9s states the canine provided will stay in the condition you bought it if you follow instructions for grooming, health, and training.

Can I buy a personal protection dog if I have family members in my house?

Yes, your personal protection dog will be trained to respect your family. Aggressive dogs do not make good personal protection dogs, therefore a correctly trained and selected personal protection dog will never be aggressive to your family or anyone. It will make executive decisions if a threat engages with you.

Can I buy a personal protection dog if I live on land?

Yes! All personal protection dogs sold by Professional K9s have full off leash training (from any distance as long as canine can hear, or if further you may attach walkie-talkie to their collar for extreme/hunting situations).

Tip: Protect your personal protection dog like an investment. Leaving your PPD unattended on land may result in theft.

Can I buy a personal protection dog if I live in an apartment?

Yes. All personal protection dogs sold by Professional K9s are trained to be polite and maintained in any environment. Their behavior/performance is not dependent upon exercise.

Can I buy a personal protection dog if I travel a lot?

Yes, and it is encouraged. That is the time you will need a PPD the most.
